JANUARY
- 01/01/2008: The Westland City Fire Brigade wishes everyone a Safe and Happy 2008 !
During the changeover into the new year, WCFB units and personnel have been working all night to keep an eye on the festivities and traditional fires all over the County.
This year the weather has been very good and a lot of people were on the streets joining in the festivities everywhere. The nice weather did not make an easy night for the fire crews. They had to handle over 56 calls all over Westland City ranging from small fires to a very large structural fire. Next to this there were several injuries sustained due to fireworks and also several traffic accidents. Not a very good start for the new year.
FEBRUARY
- 21/02/2008: The Westland City Fire Brigade has received new funds for replacing 1 and buying an extra platform unit. Currently the WCFB operates 3 different type snorkels and our goal is to change this to one type, preferrably the same as currently is in use in general.
Testing will begin in March 2008 and hopefully we can give out a charter for the new units around August 2008. Depending on which company gets the order and the time they need to build and deliver the units, we expect a first delivery not before October 2008. The first unit to be replaced will be the HW-7681, which is due for replacement in November 2008.
MARCH
- 04/03/2008: Westland City FB has received it's first test unit from one of the appliances manufacturers in LEGOŽ County. It is a DAF CF85 based truck with 3 axles of which the last one is hydraulically steering. Fitted with a 48 meter high snorkel and high/low pressure pump. A state of the art vehicle which has done it's first test run out of Station 9 today.
