Westland City Fire Brigade

WCFB-Radio codes for vehicles/equipment

These codes are a standard in the Netherlands for each Fire Department and are dictated by the Section Fire Department, Ministry of internal affairs. These codes are used in radio- and daily communications to identify different types of vehicles/equipment ranging from a fire engine to a taxi through a unified system. The abbreviations are the real "Dutch" codes, description is a translation.
A nice example is: TS (or TAS)= TankAutospuit in Dutch, English translation= Engine, pumper.

The codes for units (NOT vehicles) can be extended with an -A, -H or a -V, to differentiate between a trailer- (-A), container- (-H) or a marine- (-V) unit. Furthermore there are a number of additions, that can be placed behind the unit code, to specify it's function or content.
An example: a general purpose trailer (GMA), fixed with light-mast(LI): GMA-LI
